I AM BOOKS - Fall 2021 Language Courses 


Starting in September, I AM Books will partner once again with professional language instructor Matteo Roncari for two Italian courses:

Elementary Italian II and Intermediate Italian III. More information and sign up links below!

Beginner Italian I

When: Every Tuesday, 6-8 p.m., from Sept. 7 to Nov. 23, 2021 (12 weeks)

Cost: $350

*Classes will be taught online via Zoom.

Starting Sept. 7, 2021, professional Italian language instructor Matteo Roncari will partner with I AM Books for a 12-week course that will introduce attendants to the Italian language, with multimedia and interactive approaches facilitating the learning process.

Textbook: Nuovo Espresso 1, published by Alma Edizioni (available here)

This course is designed for students with very little or no knowledge of Italian and aims to develop students’ basic communicative skills in Italian. Students will learn the rudiments of vocabulary and grammar necessary for basic communication. By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Introduce themselves and others
  • Give others personal information about themselves
  • Ask others about their personal information
  • Read a simple menu, order drinks and food from a bar menu, ask for the bill
  • Express their likes and dislikes

Intermediate Italian II

When: Every Monday 6-8 p.m., from Sept. 13 to Nov. 29, 2021 (12 weeks)

Cost: $350

Starting Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, professional Italian language instructor Matteo Roncari will partner with I AM Books for a 12-week course that will introduce attendants to the Italian language, with multimedia and interactive approaches facilitating the learning process.

This course is a continuation of the spring’s Intermediate I course, and new students should know these prerequisites:

  • nouns (singular / plural and agreement with adjectives),  
  • definite and indefinite articles
  • possessive adjectives
  • present tense, passato prossimo tense, imperfetto tense, present conditional tense, future tense, imperativo tense
  • comparatives and superlatives
  • direct and indirect object pronounsrelative pronouns
  • sapere vs conoscere
  • elements of CI and NE
  • elements of present subjunctive
